When you are visualising what you want – make sure you’re wearing your own shoes!!!

By

I was just listening to a call with Communion of Light at Good Vibe U – and got a new understanding on the Cinderella story, that I wanted to share with you.

Someone had asked  a question about visualising – about how to imagine a new future for yourself. The person asking the question was like a lot of people, like I used to be, and was having difficulty visualising. The discussion was around, maybe using the word imagining, rather that visualising. Using all your senses – seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling – the ones that you are most comfortable with. The ones you use if you are thinking of your old bedroom, or your 18th birthday, or your child’s first birthday – use what is familiar to you.

They used the analogy of Cinderella and the shoes. It made sense to me in a way that it hadn’t before. When Prince Charming came to see who owned the shoe, that was the key  to his heart – the Ugly Sisters tried to pretend that the shoes fitted them, and they walked around balancing precariously on the shoes, and tried to balance. But Prince Charming knew that they weren’t fitting correctly. He recognised Cinderella, even when she was dressed in her old, cleaning clothes, away from the glamour of the ball, because the shoes were the right fit for her.

You can read hundreds of books, go to workshops, listen to great speakers, listen to the advice of family and friends, listen to things online, go to religious gatherings etc, etc, etc, etc – but ultimately, you have to be comfortable walking in your shoes. Your shoes have to fit you, if you are going to find your Prince Charming!!! You have to be doing the things and following the practices, and thinking the thoughts that are right for you. You can’t borrow them from other people. You can try out other people’s ideas and see if they fit you, but it’s really important that you find what is your ideal fit.

Now, who Prince Charming is, or what he represents is different for all of us too. It might be relationship, career, abundance, family, home, travel – anything that is an object of desire. We know from the story that Prince Charming is genuine (always good to know that, and to know that we aren’t desiring something that is a sham) – so when we are in our own shoes and being our authentic selves, we are a match for our most genuine desires!!

I’m looking forward to watching Cindrella again with this new insight!

Thanks Christine. Such a simple concept, but hard to grasp sometimes. We get so lost in doing what we think we should, often really to please others. I have used EFT for awhile now, and I can finally quiet the mind enough to listen to what’s going on deep inside to see if something is really right for me or not. Love your blog!
